I’ve been in foster care since I was 7 years old. I’ve moved around a lot therefore have always found making friends really hard. I’ve been to lots of different youth clubs but have never stuck to any of them. Reaching Higher was different. I wasn’t left alone in an unfamiliar space but instead was introduced to some of the other young people by the leaders. There was so much to do during the workshops I didn’t have time to feel out of place. I was made to feel included from the start.

I’ve made some great friends and have also received some additional help from the leaders. I have a mentor that meets with me once a week and we talk about some of the things I find difficult to talk to with my teachers and carers. I feel more confident and I am getting on with my carer and family a lot better.
