The team at Reaching Higher would like to officially invite you to the HeadStart Action Programme (HS Programme), a new section of the LIT programme focused on potentially getting you paid work experience in your industry of interest.

 Throughout the HeadStart programme, we will challenge you to broaden your insight to the world of work and improving your employability skills. The programme is broken down into two phases;

 Phase one focuses on social action. Finding an issue in your local community and creating a solution to help.

 Phase Two focuses on employability, work readiness and the chance to get work experience in the industry of your choice.

 The programme will run from October till December.

The LIT Program is for young people aged 16 – 19 years old. This program will empower, up skill and release young people to become the leaders of their generation.

The LIT Program operates on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm – 8.30pm. It is a one-year programme, which consists of interactive workshops and experiences that exercises leadership qualities, team-working skills and supports career ambition.

The pre-requisites of becoming a LIT are:

  1. Availability on Tuesday evenings
  2. Complete a minimum of five volunteering days
  3. Willingness to learn and be challenged
  4. Successful application form

Those within the LIT program will be provided with opportunities to exercise and put their new found skills into practise and take part in employability days. These take place with our partner companies - RBS who offers participants a glimpse into the world of corporate banking and Havas which introduces participants to the creative world of marketing.. These days are full of fun activities, top tips and a chance to network and learn from working professionals. We cover everything from CVs, interviews, cover letters, applications and can also lead to potential paid job opportunities.

The LIT Program will circulate in rounds of 12 months. Within these 12 months each participant will have taken part in every workshop. Once every workshop has been attended they will then be provided with more responsibility to ensure that they continue to develop steadily.

One of our previous LIT's said;
"The LIT program I believe has been paramount to making me stand out to the other numerous students my age. This is something I have proudly put on my CV and personal statement. Entering work, especially the industry of engineering which I wish to go into, is becoming ever more competitive and opportunities like the LIT program is something that will help me become more hireable”

Applications are being taken now. Fill out the application form here
